Dinner On Us

Immanuel Community Gathering

Wednesday, May 9th
5:00-7:00 p.m.

We enjoyed the recent Lenten Soup Supper Gatherings so much that we want to continue this tradition throughout the year. On the 2nd Wednesday of every month, beginning May 9th, come to Immanuel for a casual dinner from 5:00-7:00 PM.

To kick things off, we’ll be having hamburgers and hot dogs with all the “fixings”, and providing refreshing drinks. If you have a favorite side dish you’d like to bring, please do so, but don’t feel obligated. You don’t need to bring anything except yourself, family, and a friend or neighbor!  This is great for busy families—you won’t have to hurry to make dinner for one night. Come as you are, relax and enjoy a casual dinner...on us!

Click here to access an online sign-up sheet for the dinner. Indicate if you’re attending and number of people going with you so we know how much food to prepare.

“Immanuel Reads” book discussion
saturday, June 9th, 5:00 pm

Our next book will be, Elephant Company by Vicki Constantine Croke. The remarkable story of James Howard “Billy” Williams, whose uncanny rapport with the world’s largest land animals transformed him from a carefree young man into the charismatic war hero known as “Elephant Bill.”

Sara Groen, author of Like Water for Elephants writes, “My love of elephants made me apprehensive of reviewing a book about their role in WWII. But as soon as I began to read Elephant Company, I realized that not only was my heart safe, but this book is about far more than just war, or even elephants. This is a story of friendship, loyalty and breathtaking bravery that transcends species.”

A best seller; do not miss this one. The book has been out for over a year and can be found in all the usual places. The book review will be on Saturday, June 9th, at 5:00 PM followed by a potluck dinner at 6:00. Come join us; we always have plenty of food.

Confirmation at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Los Altos

Confirmation is a weekly gathering of young people, usually in 7th and 8th grades. In these gatherings we learn about faith, values, and life through discussion, learning exercises, play, recreation, and service. Confirmation has consistently been one of Immanuel’s most successful and enjoyable programs for youth. We invite youth in your family to participate.

  • Weekly Confirmation meetings usually take place on Sundays 5:00-6:00 PM.
  • Other youth activities such as outings, movie nights, and retreats are offered as part of the program.
