Volunteer at Immanuel
There are many opportunities for you to use your gifts and talents to serve in our church and its surrounding community. We invite people with enthusiasm and creativity to participate in God’s work of bringing healing and hope to the world in practical ways. Here are just a few areas where your passions and skills can be put to good use:
Ushers/Greeters – Help create a welcoming atmosphere for visitors and members.
Communion Assistants – Share the sacrament of Holy Communion with others at the Lord’s table.
Readers/Lectors – Share God’s word with us by reading the scripture in services.
Musicians – Inspire others to rejoice in God’s many gifts through their leadership in song. Areas of interest:
Praise Team Singers and Instrumentalists – Praise Team Director: Ed Johnson
Youth Singers and Instrumentalists - Leader: Matt Peters
Children’s Choir - Leader: Carla Schick
Altar Care – Help to prepare the sanctuary for worship, especially helping with the setup for Holy Communion.
Coffee Hosts – Prepare snacks, coffee, and other refreshments for our Sunday morning fellowship time after each service.
Both adults and youth are invited to participate in Sunday morning leadership. Young people at Immanuel frequently serve as readers, communion assistants, acolytes, musicians, and Youth Sunday speakers, and coffee helpers.
DINNERS, GATHERINGS, AND CELEBRATIONS
We’re famous for our celebrations. In recent years our dedicated teams of volunteers and helpers supported gatherings as diverse as:

• Wedding Receptions
• Memorial Gatherings
• Deck the Halls and Craft Fair Family Day
We welcome men and women who can help with planning, cooking, setup, serving, and a number of other practical tasks. We always have a great time working together.
YOUTH, CHILDREN’S MINISTRY, AND SUNDAY SCHOOL
If you love to work with young people and help them experience the love of Christ through learning, service, and fun activities, we welcome your participation. Opportunities to serve include:
• Sunday School Teachers, Subs, and Helpers

CHURCH COUNCIL AND COMMITTEES
Join Immanuel’s leadership team as we develop our congregation’s vision for the future and work together to carry out effective Christian ministry in the present. Elections take place every year in June, and all members are welcome to prayerfully consider serving in this exciting leadership role.
Eleven Committees relate to the Council developing ministry in areas as diverse as music, property maintenance, and evangelism. Click here for a list and explanation of committee opportunities.
Immanuel partners with many organizations that provide assistance to people in need. Monthly projects such as the Back-to-School Backpack Drive, Asante African Bazaar, and Salvation Army Giving Tree provide members with the opportunity to give and serve. Volunteers and leaders are needed for:
Coordinating with these organizations
Helping to envision new opportunities to reach out and serve.
We also need volunteers to help with special service opportunities, such as Habitat for Humanity build days.
This group of caring individuals visits the hospitalized and shut-in, and provides meals to families or individuals experiencing hardship (such as people who have returned home following surgery, or those who have recently lost a loved one). We welcome others who would like to offer the gifts of presence, prayer, and support to hurting people.
