“Immanuel Reads” Two-Book Review Extravaganza
Saturday, February 23, 5:00 PM

“We were the Lucky Ones”, by Georgia Hunter, a Lynn North suggestion, and “The World’s Largest Man: A Memoir” by Harrison Scott Key, Terry Higgins’ recommendation.

When Georgia Hunter was 15, she learned that she came from a family of Holocaust survivors. “We were the lucky Ones” was born of her quest to uncover her family’s staggering history. “A remarkable story of courage, love, and of course, good luck.” (Book Riots Best Book of 2017)

“The World’s Largest Man: A Memoir.” “A smart, heartfelt consideration of the meaning of manhood in the 21st century - and the first book I’ve read in a while that’s funny enough to make me snort coffee through my nose, several times.” (Tampa Bay Times) Junette and Terry confess to many moments of side splitting fun. Read one or both and join us for the review and dinner.

Ash Wednesday Service—March 6th
7:00 pm

The Season of Lent begins this year on March 6th. Throughout Christian history the church has seen this six-week long period as a special opportunity to deepen ones faith through practices like worship, prayer, and repentance. Ash Wednesday is the first day in this season and marks the beginning of our Lenten journey toward Good Friday and Easter. We will gather at Immanuel to begin this journey on March 6th at 7:00 p.m. for an Ash Wednesday service. Join us as we focus our hearts in prayer, song, scripture, and the imposition of ashes. Note: there is no Soup Supper on Ash Wednesday.

Confirmation at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Los Altos

Confirmation is a weekly gathering of young people, usually in 7th and 8th grades. In these gatherings we learn about faith, values, and life through discussion, learning exercises, play, recreation, and service. Confirmation has consistently been one of Immanuel’s most successful and enjoyable programs for youth. We invite youth in your family to participate.

  • Weekly Confirmation meetings usually take place on Sundays 5:00-6:00 PM.

  • Other youth activities such as outings, movie nights, and retreats are offered as part of the program.
