“Immanuel Reads” Book Review
Saturday, January 5, 2019, at 5:00 pm

“Immanuel Reads” has selected “Outrun the Moon” by Stacey Lee as our next book. The story is about a young girl determined to break from the poverty of Chinatown, and takes place before and after the 1906 earthquake. “A fantastic read! Emotional, entertaining, and bewitching.”--Cynthia Kodohata, National Book Award winner. The book discussion begins at 5:00 and a potluck dinner will immediately follow.

“Immanuel Reads” Movie Night
Saturday, January 26, at 7:00 pm

“Immanuel Reads” will present the movie, “Amazing Grace” on January 26. This is an inspiring true story of William Wilberforce, and his courageous quest to end the British slave trade. Along the way Wilberforce meets intense opposition from members of Parliament but his minister, John Newton, a reformed slave ship captain who penned the beloved hymn "Amazing Grace," urges him to see the cause through.  “A Sweeping Epic!” (Jeffery Lyons, film critic, NBC Reel Talk.) The movie will start at 7:00 p.m., followed by desserts, coffee and reviewing the movie.

Confirmation at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Los Altos

Confirmation is a weekly gathering of young people, usually in 7th and 8th grades. In these gatherings we learn about faith, values, and life through discussion, learning exercises, play, recreation, and service. Confirmation has consistently been one of Immanuel’s most successful and enjoyable programs for youth. We invite youth in your family to participate.

  • Weekly Confirmation meetings usually take place on Sundays 5:00-6:00 PM.

  • Other youth activities such as outings, movie nights, and retreats are offered as part of the program.
