Parsonage Campaign
As we look toward the future of ministry at Immanuel, we are continually reminded of God's faithfulness and the generosity of this congregation. Through your support, we have been able to worship, serve our community, nurture faith, and share the love of Christ with others. Now, we are prayerfully exploring an opportunity that could strengthen the ministry of Immanuel for generations to come.
Over the past year, the Church Council has been studying the possibility of constructing a parsonage on church property for our congregation. The rapidly increasing cost of housing in Silicon Valley presents significant challenges not only for our current pastor but also for future pastors who may be called to serve Immanuel. Providing a parsonage would create a lasting asset for our church while helping ensure pastoral stability and long-term financial sustainability.
Today, we are inviting you to participate in the first phase of this process.
Over the next six weeks, ending on July 12th, we are asking every member and friend of Immanuel to prayerfully consider making a three-year financial commitment toward a Parsonage Capital Campaign. The purpose of this pledge campaign is to determine how much financial support our congregation is willing and able to provide toward this vision.
At this stage, we are not asking the congregation to approve a building project. Rather, we are seeking to understand the level of support that exists within the congregation. Once the pledge commitments have been received and we have completed discussions with lending institutions regarding potential financing options, we will be able to present a complete proposal to the congregation.
That proposal will include:
• The total amount pledged through the capital campaign.
• Potential loan terms and financing options.
• Estimated project costs.
• Recommended next steps for constructing a parsonage on church property.
• The overall financial impact on the congregation.
At that time, the congregation will have the opportunity to review the complete package, ask questions, and vote on whether to move forward with the project.
If approved by the congregation, our hope is to begin construction as soon as practical following loan approval and completion of the necessary planning and permitting processes.
We believe this effort is about more than providing housing. It is about investing in the future ministry of Immanuel. A parsonage would help ensure that future pastors can live within the community they serve, strengthen pastoral presence and availability, and create a lasting asset that benefits the church for many years to come.
As you consider your response, we ask that you pray for God's guidance and wisdom. Every gift matters, and every pledge helps us better understand what is possible as we seek to discern God's vision for the future of Immanuel.
Thank you for your faithfulness, your generosity, and your commitment to Christ's mission and ministry.
Together, let us prayerfully discern what God may be calling us to do. If you have any questions or concerns, please seek out one of the members of the Parsonage Team; Lynn North (Chair), Brent Ahrens, Chad Stearns, Jo Carlson, Perry Peterson, Mike Schini, Tom Hampton, or Pastor Josh.
In Christ,
Pastor Josh Martyn
