In our Lutheran tradition we believe in shared leadership

Congregational members and leaders work together under the pastor’s guidance to further the ministry of the church and fulfill Christ’s call to live out the Gospel in word and deed.

Our ministry is divided into 11 areas with committees and workgroups volunteering and overseeing each area. They are:

Children And Teens (CAT): Plans and implements ministry and activities for young people from pre-school through High School in our church and surrounding community.

Christian Education: Oversees Sunday School, Confirmation, Adult Education, and other learning opportunities.

Evangelism: Responsible for following up with visitors, reaching out to the community with various activities, holding events for newcomers, and managing our website and other forms of PR.

Fellowship: Connects people through hospitality and fun. Our fellowship team runs social activities, hosts our Sunday fellowship time after the services, and oversees other celebrations, concerts, and events.

Finance: Helps keep track of the numbers and financial health of congregation.

Nominating: Works at identifying volunteers and leaders for our Church Council and other leadership positions.

Personnel: Supports the staff, oversees hiring, and reviews performance.

Property: Oversees the maintenance and ongoing development of Immanuel’s beautiful buildings and church grounds.

Social Ministry: Guides and stimulates the congregation’s efforts in outreach to the community through projects, fundraising, and participation in special opportunities to meet human need.

Stewardship: Encourages offerings to support God’s work here and in the world. Educates members on opportunities to offer our gifts of time and talent by volunteering in worship, Sunday School and youth events, music, dinners and social events, committees and council, concerts, and many other activities.

Worship and Music: Works with the Pastor in developing and supporting the worship life of the congregation. Oversees other musical events such as concerts and special services.

Church Council

The Church Council oversees the work of the congregation, and manages its many activities and areas of ministry. It prayerfully works under the guidance of the Holy Spirit to define the church’s vision and direction. Members are elected by the congregation. The council is currently composed of 12 members, including one youth member, and the PastorCouncil members also serve on at least one standing committee.
